The mission of the Water Pathogen Knowledge to Practice (Water-K2P) project is to provide tools that allow access to pathogen data on viruses, protozoa and bacteria to support sanitation safety planning.

Venthic has developed analytical tools that model pathogen emissions and removal at different scales:

  1. The Treatment Plant Sketcher Tool, which allows users to design a wastewater treatment facility, define specific design, operational, and environmental characteristics associated with the technologies used and  predict pathogen reduction by group (i.e., bacteria, viruses, protozoa and helminths).
  2. The Pathogen Flow & Mapping Tool, which visualizes the sanitation situation in any country or region in the world, identifies pathogen hotspots and allows users to define sanitation service chain-wide scenarios to see how specific action can affect pathogen reduction.

Both tools have been developed together with researchers and practitioners from:
